About Me
About Me
Hi! My name is Anna, I am from Hong Kong, currently living in London.
I love cat, handicrafts, and Japanese culture.
I am so addicted to "Nunobana" (Hand-dyed fabric flower in Japanese language), since I saw an photo of a handmade ear cuff which made from fabric flower at Pinterest. Unlike other accessories, Nubobana makes me feel the teamputure brought by the handicraft, which can't be replaced by plastic flower made by cold machine,
So I start learning about Nunobana via web and book. Then I have taken workshop organised by a teacher who learnt this skill from Japan.
Now I have my own brand, annapale, with my own style, slightly sweet and vintage aesthetic. Here I will share my products and I do hope you would like it, and we can meet in person at some craft market one day.
What is Nunobana 布花?
The traditional Japanese craft Nunobana (布花), is a handmade fabric flower using Japanese specialized technique.
Nunobana craft has been around for sometime, some of masters have been working for decades. In old Japan, a lot of housewives would learn this skill, to make a large bunch of flower for home decoration, and make brooches and hair accessories for their important festival and event.
Fabric flower has also been found in Europe in 1300s, it's very popular in high society, especially in France. They often use it as trendy accessory to decorate their hat and clothing.
Today, fabric flower is also one of elements applied on fashion design, for example, the luxury brand Christian Dior use thousand of fabric flower on several iconic Miss Dior Dresses.

Or use plants or coffee to do natural dye.

4.
Assemble the petals and leaves with pistil and wire.
5.
At final step, combine the petals and leaves with silk ribbon one by one to form the ideal flower you want.
6.
Done! As the fabric flower has assembled with wire, it is flexible to adjust the flower stem, to make the best of appearance of it.
